The four-day Japanese Film Festival kicked off today at the Rawalpindi Arts Council where four Japanese films with English sub-titles would be showcased. The film festival has been organized by the Embassy of Japan in collaboration with the Rawalpindi Arts Council, Pakistan Japan Cultural Association and MEXT Alumni Association of Pakistan The festival was inaugurated today by Mr. Takashi Katae, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Japan to Pakistan. The film “Always-Sunset on Third Street-3” was showcased at the inaugural day. The film was released in 2012 and won great success in Japan. Mr. Takashi Katae, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Japan to Pakistan, while speaking at the inaugural show said that the film depicts the period when Japan was gradually developing as a country with newly constructed buildings and highways. Explaining he added, that the characters in the film are shown to be full of hope and aspirations in their lives. They let audience enjoy the little moments of happiness and anticipations along with them. Hard work and determination helped these characters of the film to prosper through the difficult times and this hard work and determination are embedded in the heart of every Japanese even today. Mr. Katae hoped that these films would provide entertainment as well as taking audience to the enchanting world of Japanese culture, traditions, and art. The Japanese Film Festival in Pakistan has been held since 1995 to provide an opportunity for the people of Pakistan to learn various aspects of Japanese tradition, culture, lifestyle and society. The film festival will continue till 6th of March during which, other Japanese films like “Gakko-IV”, “Penguins in the Sky” and “Sumo Do, Sumo Don’t” will be shown to the audience.
